Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova participated in the ninth ministerial meeting on the Silk Road project. The discussion is organized by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and is being held in Berlin at the ITB International Tourism Fair.

Since its inception, the Silk Road program has made a significant contribution to establishing it as an internationally recognized, cultural and tourist route, and interest has grown steadily in recent years, the Minister said. She added that for Bulgaria, as a country part of the Western Silk Road, it is extremely important to be actively involved in all phases of the initiative's development.

We hosted the second international seminar “On the Western Silk Road” and made a national analysis of our heritage, which is part of the initiative, informed Minister Angelkova. Our participation in this pilot project sheds light on the tourism potential of the Silk Road project and the overall benefits of promoting it.

The Bulgarian Minister of Tourism also stressed that a project could be considered for collecting and summarizing information about the initiative, which could be used as a common database on the tourism potential of the Silk Road project.
